TRIGGERS, SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
There is no known cause of migraines. It is, however, believed that there is a reaction
in the central nervous system that might have caused a change in the environment or in the body. And still,
it is also believed that migraines are inherent, which means that this condition runs in the family. As
such, this suggests that people who experience migraine may adapt the sensitivity to triggers which causes
inflammation in the blood vessels and in turn, causes pain the head.
A trigger is basically called something that starts a reaction or a process. For people suffering
from headaches, here are some of the trigger processes: hormonal changes in women, lack of sleep, alcohol, exertion,
glare or contrasting patterns, stress, foods that contain caffeine such as chocolate or coffee and foods which contain
MSG such as Chinese food, hunger, perfume, over the counter drug prescription, environmental factors such as the
environment, pollution, weather, and change in time zones.
There are different signs and symptoms of migraine. Migraine headache is actually a pulsating and
throbbing pain felt in the head that is often increased by lowering of the head, straining, coughing and too much
exertion on a physical activity. Migraine activity is so intense that it often leaves the sufferer tired, weak and
worn-out once headache is finished. Migraine headache occurs only on one side of the head, and it usually lasts for
about one to two hours and in some cases, it even lasts up to a day. But it normally passes.
